Getting Started

Download helpful documents from the Project Launch Common App Workshop below to guide you through the process.
Tip: Some colleges don’t accept the Common Application. If that’s the case, complete their application directly on the school’s website.
college transfer students
Thinking about transferring to a different college? Many students start at one school and later move to another for reasons like programs, location, or financial fit. Starting at a community college can reduce overall costs and student debt, especially if you plan to transfer later.
What You Should Do to Make Transfer Work for You
Talk with your mentor or academic counselor early — before you pick classes — to make sure your course plan qualifies for MassTransfer or the Commonwealth Commitment.
Complete an approved associate degree (many transfer‑pathway agreements assume you earn the AA/AS) to make sure credits transfer and you get junior‑year standing at the new school.
Watch your GPA and deadlines — many programs require a minimum GPA for guaranteed transfer benefits.
Check the requirements at your intended 4‑year school — some majors or private colleges may have additional conditions (coursework, portfolio, application).
Use the statewide resources — MassTransfer site, community‑college transfer offices, program advisors — they exist to help make your path smoother and more affordable.
